Germs Germs Go Away

We are at the peak of flu season, and it seems everyone around you is sick. With the temperature dropping and the breezy air coming, it may be hard to fight. What do you do? Do you run for cover and hibernate? Do you just go with the flow? Do you vaccinate against the flu?

Here are some things we do, to stay well and try to fight flu season:

Wash hands: It is recommended to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. Be on top of the little ones as they are consistently putting everything in and around their mouths, including their hands.

Immunity Boosters: We love to make smoothies packed with immune boosters (Kale, Spinach, Garlic, Ginger, Apple Cider Vinegar, Acerola Cherry) We also take Elderberry, Vitamin C, Omega 3, and Probiotics

Neti pot: My husband swears by this, and I do too! We love using it It helps clear our nasal passages and leaves you able to breath again! Just mix water (purified or boiled water) and a saline packet included in the neti pot. You can find it at your local drugstore.

Potatoes: This one might sound weird, but we read it somewhere once, and it has worked great for us! It's suppose to help reduce fever. We cut a thin slice of potato and put it in our socks (make sure little ones can't get to it at night). We put footed pj's on our son, when we do this. Also, organic is best, but if not just make sure the potato is not old or sprouting.

Essential Oil: We like to use Doterra, but any good quality brand is worth a try. I put it on the bottom of our feet, or diffuse it in the air. Always use a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil) when applying to skin.

Bundle Up: Make sure you are dressing for the weather and layer up!

This is what works for us in trying to keep the germs away and having fun!
